Faced with the COVID-19 crisis, safe and sanitary housing is more important than ever to ensure the health and stability of communities. Build up Nepal is a social enterprise that empowers rural entrepreneurs and communities to build safe, affordable homes, and resilient incomes. They provide low-cost machines, training, and support to rural entrepreneurs and communities, enabling them to make Interlocking Compressed Stabilized Earth Bricks (CSEB) using soil, sand, and cement. By using local materials, the cost of transport and construction is reduced by 25%, making the dream of a safe and healthy home genuinely affordable for poor families.
Their innovative micro-enterprise model establishes new enterprises as long-term sustainable economic engines, building safe homes, creating jobs, and reducing CO2 over the long-term. By 2025, Build up Nepal aims to support 600 enterprises to build 25,000 houses, creating 6600 jobs and saving 115,000 tons of CO2-emissions.
Build up Nepal’s vision is a future in which all families, women, men and children can live decent, healthy lives with access to a livable incomes, safe housing and sanitation within their communities.
