Embrace Lifeline

Beirut,Lebanon

Embrace is an emotional support and suicide helpline in Lebanon, providing psychological first aid, suicide risk assessment and orientation.

The Project

Embrace is a local non-profit organization that hosts the Embrace Lifeline, the first national emotional support and suicide helpline in Lebanon, providing psychological first aid, emotional support, suicide risk assessment and orientation to community services as needed. The COVID-19 crisis and the deepening economic crisis in Lebanon have increased the socio-economic stressors leaving more people vulnerable to disruptions in mental well-being and in need of inexpensive, accessible mental health services.

Accordingly, we intend to extend the operating hours of the Lifeline to attain a 24-hour model while also expanding Embrace’s activities into direct service provision. We are seeking to launch a graduate training program where psychology students can provide supervised, low-fee mental health services to vulnerable populations.

Their Vision for the Future

Embrace Lifeline’s activities have fostered an emotionally healthy community where mental wellbeing is at the forefront of Lebanon’s population.
