SAI’s Triple Bottom Up Approach in Agroforestry

Mumbai, India

SAI’s model lifts tribal farmers out of poverty: transforming their degraded lands by intercropping of traditional crops with valuable plantation.

The Project

SAI’s 1-acre agroforestry model lifts tribal BoP farmers out of extreme poverty by transforming their degraded lands by intercropping of traditional crops with high-value tree plantation. Traditional knowledge combined with biotechnology ensures farmer access to quality inputs & cultivation techniques. Via our online-offline model, we mobilize, train, and provide hand holding year-round for our 1679 farmers.

We ensure direct market access, wherein farmers become valuable partners for different agrarian industries, gaining regular income. Traditional crops ensure nutritional food year-round for farmer families. Harvesting & processing gives employment to youth & landless people, creating resilient local supply chains, that are functioning despite the pandemic.

Their Vision For The Future

Our vision is to achieve a world where the marginalized sections of society are active partners in development with access to higher-quality inputs, technology, and finance, their barren lands become productive again, their produce is premium and they are less vulnerable to climate changes.
